Welcome to The Computer Game Show.com, the new website for TCGS.
So why have we built a website? Well, there are two main reasons really.
Firstly, we’re always looking to do more.
In the past that’s meant launching Kickstarter campaigns for t-shirts, live shows at EGX and Rezzed, and plenty more besides.
It’s all very well tweeting about our new initiatives or projects, but we wanted one single place to house all that information.
We’re planning to announce more exciting things later this year, and this website is a key part of that.
Secondly, and perhaps most importantly, it’s because over recent months it’s become really apparent that not everyone is on social media.
We know a considerable proportion of our audience is heavily invested in social media – and that includes us four on the show (for better or worse) – but whether it’s conversations in our Discord channel or emails we’ve received, we can see that not everyone is frantically refreshing Twitter every second, and that’s why we’ve built this site.
We needed a place where everything lives and everyone can access. So whether you love Twitter or hate Facebook, this is for you. Something for everyone, basically. And there’s only so many times you can mention the plethora of social accounts we’ve got before you start to realise there must be a better option out there.
And here’s that better option.
This initial version of the website doesn’t do anything crazy, but it should do the basics well.
It’s where we’ll be posting new episodes (don’t worry, the pod will still be on every podcast service as it is today), our latest Twitch streams, announcements and news about the show, live shows we’re doing, and anything else important that could be lost on social.
Here’s what else the website allows you to do:
- Listen to the show
Not only does our new website allow you to stream and listen to every episode of TCGS within the browser, but when you play an episode, it’ll keep playing as you visit different pages throughout the site. And this feature works on mobile too.
- Watch our video content
Every upload to YouTube, including our Twitch streams, is available to watch from the Video section or homepage, so you won’t miss a thing.
- Subscribe to the show
Something else we’ve learned is that not everyone uses iTunes for their podcasts, so be sure to check the Subscribe option in the main navigation to find the show on whatever podcast service suits you and your listening habits.
- Hear about live events
All our upcoming live shows at EGX, Rezzed or elsewhere is now listed in our Events section, so check it out if you want to find what we’re up to next. We’re always looking to add more live shows to the list.
- Contact the show
Use the About section to find out more about the show, find our various social links, contact us individually or contact the show using the form or via email.
And that’s it for now.
If you spot anything that looks wrong or doesn’t work as it should, please get in touch through the form on the About page or hit us up on Twitter.
Thanks!
Mat, Sean, James and David.
